I had a letter from Kyle waiting in the mail for me when I got home this evening! Can you say Happier Than A Bug In A Rug?? I now have an address where I can write him, but doesn't look like he'll be calling much. That's ok - as long as we can write.

He said he's doing well, getting yelled at a lot, has an M16 & Kevlar vest, done a bunch more paperwork, lots of PT and other stuff. I'll have to sit down tonight before I go to bed and write him.

Glad you heard from him again and that you have an address to write back. He'll really appreciate hearing from you.

Good news is always a plus when you come home. It puts the icing on the cake.

That's great! Let's hear it for old-school snail mail! Something nice about havin' a shoebox full of old letters from good friends and special folks.

I'm guessing Kyle is in basic training...

You might want to hold off writing letters until he graduates. I've heard way too many horor stories about recruits who get mail. My brother's class had to do 5 fartleks for every piece of mail. With 200+ recruits, that was a lot of running.

Don't even think about sending him cookies....

Haven't heard anything from him about not sending letters, but he did enclose a list of items not to be sent.

I'm writing him. They're young & strong, they can do the running.
