Default Mandeville Canyon Incident 7/4

Rode with the Helens and Rock guys this morning en route to the Donut Ride this morning. The details are kinda sketchy, but here's what I heard about yesterday's ride:

A couple of tandem riders made a u-turn on Mandeville, before it got too steep. Three Cynergy guys, descending following the Holiday Ride, came across them and one of them went down. The other two guys stayed until the paramedics took the third guy away. Then they resumed descending.

Soon after, a red Cadillac (EDIT: Infinity) came up behind them, speeding and honking. The two guys pulled over to the right, single file. The guy drove alongside, yelling at them. Then the driver pulled in front of them and slammed on the brakes.

One rider rolled and slid off the car, the other went right into the rear windshield. One ended up with a badly separated shoulder, the other had his face mangled, with lots of plastic surgery in his future. Both are lucky it wasn't worse, tho.

The driver was dressed in hospital scrubs! He was arrested and taken away by the police. There were witnesses and it was clear it was a deliberate attack.

Will try to find out more...

EDIT: Latest Information

OMG.

That is horrible. What the hell is wrong with people? Thank goodness the driver was arrested.

Jesus! I hope they all recover quickly. I wonder what the story is with the Caddy driver.

I wasn't able to get to Catalina Coffee today for the post-ride gossip/posing session. Hopefully, Speedee can fill in the details when he gets back. I think he knows both riders.

However, I did overhear one of the guys say that they were going to try and get the LaGrange lawyers on this. Hope the d*ckhead driver gets the max.

It is no consolation, but if the driver has any assets, the riders will now own them.

I truly hope the driver gets a sentence on this, and not just a fine/slap on the wrist.

The last update I saw from LG mailing list said that a nearly identical incident happened last year, and the driver got away. They are investigating whether it might have been the same driver. King douche. And now every rider in the area is going to know his address.

Oh man. The guys who went down were Christian Stoer and Ron Peterson. Ron is my coach, but I didn't hear about this until just now.
